Server Hardware Configuration

Hardware configuration of a server is a valuable factor that influences the speed and quality of the corporate LAN and other important factors that help to enhance the efficiency of the functions of the organization. If a company employee cannot serve a client because the company database does not function, or the sales manager cannot send the quote to the client because the mail server is not responding, the organization cannot compete on the market. However, the server hardware costs much and it is not a good idea to always buy new hardware if the old one does not act as expected. In most cases it would be better to ensure what hardware equipment slows down and replace it with a better one.

But what if there are many servers in an organization? Dozens? Hundreds? (Yes, this is a normal situation sometimes if a company owns and operates hundreds of servers). How does the network administrator know what computer consists of what components? And what about the detailed characteristics of those components?

In this case an IT administrator uses special software that inventories the company network servers and builds a detailed report on what part each server has and what settings each component has. This software will automatically inspect the network, find the servers and make a detailed inventory of each, writing down collected information in a centralized database so the IT team can later review that report or even generate a consolidated one showing the full server hardware configuration for all computers in the organization.

Please check the Asset Tracker for Networks software and find out how does this tool will help you to complete your server hardware configuration inventory process.
