PC Inventory

IT administration professionals should perform PC inventory routines on the regular basis at least a few times a year (depends on the size of the company. For the networks containing more than 25 computers (i.e. for almost any corporate network) IT administrators use specialized computer inventory software that automatically inspects the network and inventories all PC's and devices found. Some of the software products of this kind contain the two parts: the "computer administrator" module that is installed on the admin's PC and is usially used to launch the inventory process and see the results, and a faceless "client program" that is installed on each and every PC and server in the network and runs there permanently. If the IT administrator needs to scan a certain computer, he/she launches a corresponding command in the administrator module. Administrator module connects to the client programs running on computers and retrieve inventory details from them.

This scheme works fine but requires the client program to be populated on the network, that certainly makes certain inconvinience in the case of middle-sized and big companies.
