Network Inventory Management

Network inventory management is the set of procedures designed to increase the efectiveness of using the corporate IT resources. Under "IT resources" we will mean not only computers themselves, but also non-PC devices like printers and faxes, network devices like routers and hubs and even the applications installed on the computers since the software can influence the effectiveness of the IT infrastructure.

What is needed to effectivelly execute the network inventory? First of all, the company should have the list of your networked ownings, equipped with the settings and configuration details of each listed item. For example, it will be not a good idea to record computers without making a note about the PC speed (processor frequency) memory size installed on this or that computer.

To create that computer list for network inventory management, people often use one of the network inventory software applications available on the market. We suggest you to check Asset Tracker for Networks that retrieves all possible information about your LAN and records it in a centralized database you can later use to review the configuration details of this or that inventory item. Moreover, after a few inventory sessions that are executed automatically (the program scans the network and inventories found devices without making a human to manage the process) Asset Tracker will display the history of changes occured to each individual device or computer. Please get your free trial copy of the program and check it by yourself usng the links below!
