Network Auditing Tools

This is somewhat you use to inspect the network in detail: computers, servers, computer peripheral devices like printers and faxes and the network equipment: switches, hubs and other devices. There are different software and hardware network auditing tools that are used for different goals, but people use software utilities in most cases.

Different software applications implement different auditing jobs. To begin with, there is a wide range of network utilities used to audit the security issues of the network: various network scanners will look for the network vulnerability problems, such as open TCP ports, unsafe passwords or unsecure WiFi access points that can be used by hackers to get unauthorized access to the company network like open server shares or internet bandwidth, etc.

One of the most useful network auditing tools are network inventory applications. This type of programs inspect your network and generate the detailed list of settings for each item found. For workstations, it detects CPU type and speed, HDD capacity, OS name and version and so on - up to two megabytes of useful information. For network equipment it records device name and type, IP address and other details that can be retrieved by using SNMP protocol.

After detecting this information, the application records it in a centralized database, allowing the network professional to review these details and/or generate consolidated reports displaying the configuration of the computers in general.

This extraordinary network auditing tool is Asset Tracker for Networks. Please use the links below to get more details on it or download your free evaluation version of the program to try it in your network.
