IT AuditWhen auditing IT resources, the users use different software programs to implement different parts of the entire process. On this web page we will explain the network inventory component - the most important and most complicated part of IT audit. Asset Tracker Networks, the program for network inventory, inventories the network and detects all computers and devices attached to it. After detecting a computer or device, the program does the full inventory of the found equipment, detecting all possible software and hardware details. These details will be stored in the Asset Tracker's inventory database that will help the network administrator to read stored information it at any time later, checking the details of any network item without having to leave their own workplace. The inventory database can be stored on the network administrator's local computer or, alternativelly, in a shared server folder. The first way guarantees the ultimate security of the network details and fastest access speed; the second allows the network administrator to share the inventory details between collegues. Asset Tracker for Networks allows many users to acess the database at the same time, so multiple users can work with it simultaneously. The Asset Tracker for Networks program can also be used to build detailed or consolidated printable reports fucusing on this or that issue. The software is equipped with over ten pre-created reports, plus the network administrator can generate their own by using the Report Builder program included into the program installation. Inventory information from the Asset Tracker's database can also be exported to various data storages, including, but not limited to the ODBC data sources, text files, etc. The export option also allows to use the inventory information in the entire IT audit report no matter what format was chosen for that report.
