Limitations induced by the network configuration unbridged architecture have been the focus of several
research proposals. These proposals can be classified into two main categories; the
first aimed to preserve layering with some modification to allow layer interaction,
while the other adopted a clean slate design. Cross Layer Designs are the most
prominent example for the former [7]. CLD were applied mainly to wireless networks
to enhance network awareness of performance conditions. For clean slate design
proposals, these provided radical changes to the network legacy stack. Their main
feature is to allow fine grained composition of protocols. An example would be the
